For one thing, where people choose to go <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">indicates<\/span> how much they like to be around others. In an article published in the Journal of Research in Personality, psychologists asked college students about their<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> geographical preferences<\/span> and found that shy and<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> inward<\/span>-looking people (&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">introverts<\/span>&#8220;) <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">preferred<\/span> the mountains, while <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">outgoing<\/span> and sociable people (&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">extroverts<\/span>&#8220;) preferred the ocean. The researchers found more<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> evidence<\/span> for this when they looked at who lived where: <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Residents<\/span> of especially <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">mountainous<\/span> areas were, on average, more introverted than those who lived in <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">flatter<\/span> places. The finding is <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">fairly<\/span> intuitive. In the mountains one easily finds <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">separation<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">isolation<\/span>. Whatever happened at the feasts <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">reflected<\/span> social class, <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">even<\/span> the order in which people walked into the room. There was a top table and the highest ranking <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">guest<\/span> would sit on the right of the king or the queen. Gold and silver dishes were also <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">laid<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">out<\/span> to<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> emphasize<\/span> how rich the family was. The guests were not<span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> allowed<\/span> to start eating before the <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">ruler<\/span> and had to stop eating once he or she had finished.
