Hey guys its Guychee again and today I’ll be talking about University life while doing bukatsu.<\/p>\r\n

I’m part of the Keio Judo club. The Judo club in Keio practices 6 times a week, with Mondays being a resting day,\u00a0 and we practice for about 2 hours per day. It may also extend to 3 hours actually, if we include muscle training or Circuit training after our practice.<\/p>\r\n

Most of you guys will probably ask why I joined Bukatsu rather than a circle. And most of you guys are probably thinking “What’s wrong with you Guychee?! You’re out of your mind!”. Well\u00a0 firstly, yes. I am out of my mind and all my peers say that I’m missing a screw, so it wouldn’t being surprising to see me playing with Elementary school students in a nearby park.<\/p>\r\n

But in all seriousness, it is certainly strange to see someone spend their precious four years of the so called “Summer vacation of life” into a sport which will totally restrict many parts of our daily life. For me, I’m not able to study as much as other people can. I’m not able to play as much as other people can. And I’m not allowed to quit halfway for no good reason. Some, would call it hell. But I would call it chance. Why? Because this is an experience which not every University student is able to gain. And yes maybe one needs to have a screw or two off to enter a pit of suffering. But this suffering will definitely benefit in the future. The feeling of tiredness, pain and competitiveness will most definitively hit us in the future and that is when people like me will start to shine from the rest. Because a person is best defined of who they when they are under the most pressure.<\/p>\r\n

When times are tough, it doesn’t matter how fast, how smart or how big you are, it’s the mentality that counts. What matters is that you keep moving on no matter what stands in your way, because winners are not people who never fail. They are people who never quit. That’s what I signed up for. Please don’t forget that as you study for your exams.<\/p>\r\n
